Voting members shall have attended at least two (2) formal NORLUG monthly meetings.
NORLUG membership expires if a member does not attend any meeting, workshop, or contact an officer of NORLUG for two months.
At the time a person's membership expires access to NORLUG servers will be denied, but the member's account will remain for one (1) additional month. At the end of three (3) months of no contact with the person, the user account on NORLUG servers will be removed. After three (3) months of non-attendance, an expired member attending a meeting will be treated as a new prospective member.
Members that attend a meeting, workshop, or get in touch with NORLUG officers before the end of three (3) months, will have their membership restored in good status and access to NORLUG servers will be restored.
The Members-at-Large (voting, non-voting, and honorary members) shall become as involved as possible in all NORLUG organizational affairs.
Honorary membership in NORLUG organization shall be granted by a two-thirds vote of a quorum of the NORLUG voting members.
Honorary members shall not have voting privileges in the NORLUG organization.
Honorary members shall be granted the option of becoming voting members, by adhering to Article I(1).

An officer who will be unable to perform a duty may assign that duty for a period of no more than four weeks to a non-officer.
All officers and assistants may choose temporary helpers to assist them in executing their duties. A helper must be under the supervision of an officer or assistant who has responsibility for that task. The helper is assigned for a specific task and has no other club duties or responsibilities.
Officers shall train and advise their successor.
Members of the organization shall be given at least two weeks' notice of special meetings.
The term of office for officers elected in May shall begin on the next scheduled NORLUG event after the election.
Any person who has been a voting member of the organization for at least the past three (3) months shall be eligible for election to any office except that of President. To be nominated for the office of President, a candidate must have been a voting member of NORLUG for at least the past six (6) months. This section may be suspended temporarily at a club meeting by a two-thirds vote of the total voting members in the organization. Advance notice is not required.
If a vacancy occurs in an elected office other than that of President, the President shall appoint someone to fill the vacancy temporarily. A special meeting shall be called to elect an interim officer within four weeks of the vacancy.
If a vacancy occurs in the office of the President, the Vice-President shall assume the office of President until the remaining portion of the term of the previous President has ended. The office of Vice-President can be filled by any of the existing elected officers or voting members who meet the qualifications of the Vice-President office. The Vice-President office shall be filled by an election that shall be held immediately for the remainder of the term of that office. After this election any non-affected officers shall resume the office and duties they held prior to the vacancy in the office of the Vice-President.
The positions of Webmaster, Security Analyst, System Administrator and Project Manager will be maintained at the discretion of the President. Members must approve any new nominations to the position by a majority vote of the voting members, but the President holds the authority to dismiss anyone from these positions. The President also has the authority to hold these positions himself.
The Webmaster is responsible for the security and maintenance of the web server and NORLUG main web pages. The Webmaster has the following additional responsibilities:

The System Administrator is responsible for maintaining all of the NORLUG servers. Other duties include:
All equipment owned by NORLUG will be used in accordance with the group's needs and requests. Changes to the current uses and distribution of equipment and resources owned by NORLUG will be approved by a majority vote at a normally scheduled meeting. All donations are the property of NORLUG and the use of the equipment will be at the discretion of the voting members as determined by a majority vote at a normally scheduled meeting.
The Bylaws may be amended by a majority of the votes cast by the voting members present at an organization meeting.
A proposed amendment to the Bylaws must be submitted in writing to the Secretary. The Secretary shall distribute copies of the proposed amendment to the organization at least four weeks before the club meeting at which the vote on the amendment will be held.
These Bylaws shall be ratified when approved by a two-thirds vote of the current members. Any person attending an NORLUG meeting in the past is considered eligible to vote for ratification of the Bylaws. A provision for absentee ballots shall be made. At least four weeks' notice shall be given for the organizational meeting at which the vote on the ratification shall be held.
